1. Proton for Business
Best for zero-access encrypted business email
What it does better than Mailfence
Proton encrypts your mailbox with zero-access encryption by default, so even Proton can't read stored mail—stronger than Mailfence's opt-in OpenPGP. It bundles encrypted Calendar, Drive, Docs, Pass, and VPN into one Swiss-jurisdiction account, and the apps are far more polished. Audited, open-source clients add trust for regulated teams.
Where Mailfence still wins
Mailfence uses standard OpenPGP that interoperates with any PGP user, whereas Proton's encryption is easiest inside its own ecosystem. Mailfence is also cheaper at entry.
Best for: Privacy- and compliance-focused teams that want an entire encrypted suite, not just email.
